It is undoubtedly the highlight of each golf season at Golfclub Am Reichswald Nürnberg, and so is the gentleman himself.
The 2011 HEINRICH BARTH Trophy at Golfclub Am Reichswald Nürnberg featured top players, including German National Ladies Team stalwart, Stephanie Kirchmayr, Reichswald Ladies Team Captain Patricia Heinlein, Anne Hartung, Pia Ohlenbusch, Rebecca Thümmler, former club champions, including Men's Team Captain Julian Hacker and Maximilian Mayer, as well as newcomer and AK12 2011 Bavarian Champion Tobias Rothe, freshly baked German National Team member Keanu Jahns, who recently became the youngest club champion in the 51-year history of Reichswald, as well as an almost complete Reichswald Men's and AK18 Team with Ferdinand Velte and youngsters Timothy Rauth, Leon Molina, Moritz Spindler, Gregor Asteroth and Matthias Wuerzinger, lead by AK18 team captain Marc-André Gehr, and some eighty-plus members, of whom three paired with one of the top Reichswald gunners.
Final scores revealed excellent results for many, mostly under par, topped by old-timer and Men's Team Captain Julian Hacker, who lead his playmates Dr. Reinhold Kütt, Hans Philipp Brendel and Dieter Velte to a resounding 8-under par success.
Introductions of Reichswald ladies' and men's team players, newcomers and new team captains brought the membership up-to-date, yet from beginning to end, the evening actually belonged to another man, an extraordinary man...
Heinrich Barth, or "Sir Heinrich", as he would be addressed in most parts of the world, is a man who commands extraordinary respect. But not because of the riches he has succeeded to gather over many decades, but because he's a very down-to-earth gentleman, who just celebrated his 85th birthday. Tall and commanding in nature, yet subtle and kind in conversation, Sir Heinrich reflects the wisdom of many far-reaching corners of the globe, yet nothing in his demeanor hints of the slightest aloofness or arrogance. He is certainly a man, one would be privileged to know better.
And so it was just appropriate, to say the least, that Reichswald Vice President Dr. Manuel Ober heaved accolades and honeurs upon Sir Heinrich, who not only envisioned and initiated the founding of Golfclub Am Reichswald Nürnberg some 50-plus years ago, but also laid the foundation as founding President, for what the club represents today - sportsmanship, respect for the game, competition at the highest levels, and a sense of history and privilege to be able to compete for this esteemed establishment.
Thank you for being there, Sir Heinrich, and only very best wishes to you and Mrs. Barth.
