Representing his club GC Am Reichswald Nürnberg in playing his very first EUROPEAN PROFESSIONAL Development Tour event from August 16 to 18 at Golfclub Pfaffing - www.golfclub-pfaffing.de - must be a big thing for Keanu! But winning the preparatory Pfaffing JAH - Jagd auf's Handicap tournament from the same tees and with a sensational 9 birdies and an 8-under par 65, may even turn out to be a bigger occasion.
Keanu's family thought it more advantageous for the 15-year old Reichswald gunner to compete two days before the EPD Pfaffing CLASSIC, rather than play a practice round with other EPD PRO's. And the decision did turn out well, particularly for GC Am Reichswald Nürnberg. The renown club fielded 3 members of its Bundesliga Men's Team with Jahns (15), Wuerzinger (16) and Rauth (15).
Matthias Wuerzinger likewise turned in an excellent round of 4-under par 69, while Timothy Rauth left the 18th green with a 2-over par 75 and a bag full of experience for this week's EPD Pfaffing CLASSIC.
But it was Keanu Jahns, playing from the white championship tees, who stole the show with 9 birdies and 1 bogey, yielding yet his best official tournament result at 8-under par on GC Pfaffing's par 73 course. And the youngster could just as well have gone double-digit with his birdie count. Fairways were hit in regulation at 93%, GIR ratio at 78% overall and a 100% on par 5's, chips rolled out for tap-ins, and the putter was hot at a total of 25 for the round.
Commented Jahns Sr.: "It was great fun watching Keanu play! He was completely relaxed and he has realized, how important rhythm and a low heartbeat are to the game. We are very happy for him!"
And what did the young Keanu have to say?! "I'm glad about my handicap! It will go into solid plus-territory now and I look forward to competing in bigger events, thanks also to my club, GC Am Reichswald Nürnberg!"
