David Blakeman, renown European PGA Professional and Head-PRO based at Jura Golf Park - www.juragolf.de - at Habsberg, won the team gross of the 2011 PRO-AM at Glashofen, together with his team-mates Keanu Jahns of GC Am Reichswald Nuernberg, Felix Kerle of GC Koenigstein and Jens Rosenberger of 1. GC Fuerth.

The tournament was held at GC Glashofen-Neusass - www.golfclub-glashofen-neusass.de on June 19, 2011.

Withstanding pouring rain on a gorgeous golf course equipped with fabulous drainage, Blakeman lead his team members with a 1-under par performance and a total of 105 points to secure 1st place in the gross team standings. 2nd place went to PRO Colin McDonald of GC Glashofen-Neusass, who teamed up with Fabian Haug of Stuttgarter GC, Wolfgang Ziesler of GC Gut Sansenhof and Felix Goettfert of GC Glashofen-Neusass, for a total of 98 points. 3rd place was secured by PRO Bill Guiney with Oliver Kothen, Klaus Tiefenbacher and Hans-Hermann Maunz, all of GC Schwaebisch Hall, with a total of 90 points.

Teeing off on #10, Blakeman inspired his young students from the start by saving a great bogey on a tight fairway and in strong winds. Blakeman's tee shot bounced off the left tree-line into the hazard.

Unperturbed, the 1981 English Amateur Champion chipped out from in-between the trees, saw his 3rd shot drift into the left front-side rough of the green, and then placed a spectacular chip from 30 yards within 2 feet of the pin.

The boys observed silently and realized, that even in soaking rain and stormy conditions, with the right mindset and attitude, one can play great golf.

From there on the PGA Professional never looked back, negotiating all components of what can only be described as extremely difficult conditions, with mastery and experience.

Said Jahns Sr., who observed most of the round: "It was an inspiring experience to watch David play with pouring rain and stormy winds pounding the course and players, while setting a wonderful example for the youngsters on how to accept and welcome the game as it presents itself to you in different settings."

The event was organized and presented by Erguel Altinova, CEO of Golf Extra - www.golf-extra.com .
