GC Am Reichswald Nuernberg seem to have done it again!
Under the stewardship of vice president Dr. Manuel Ober, who dedicates much to the development of young talents, and through its AK18 captain Christian Schloesser and 1st Men's Team captain Julian Hacker, Reichswald have assembled an indeed promising AK18 team for 2011.
The young guns impressed competitors and spectators alike by solidly taking 1st place during the GERMAN AK18 TEAM Championship regional qualification at GC Bamberg Gut Leimershof on May 14. Reichswald's combined total of 157 points was well outside the reach of 2nd placer GC Oberfranken, who tallied 124 points. 3rd place went to Jura Golf Hilzhofen with a distant 104 points.
Said Keanu's father, Johannes Jahns, who accompanied the team to Bamberg: "These guys played solid and disciplined golf during their first competition as a team, and none of the top-five scored lower than 30 points.
But what impressed most with this group of young men was, they have great chemistry amongst themselves, their attitude towards team play is inspiring, and there's no "outsider" in this team! I think Christian Schloesser and Julian Hacker have assembled a great few young guys and I would rate their potential for more success as very high."
Continues Jahns senior: "My advice though to our young guns is, be diligent the next few weeks and work hard on your short-game, particularly chipping and of course putting. Those who will be able to save par without being GIR on one or two holes, will take the BAVARIAN TEAM Championship in Eichenried in July!"
GC Am Reichswald AK18 team members include Nuernberg stalwart Marc-André Gehr, Moritz Spindler, who held his own with a great team effort while coming in at the tail-end, promising Leon-Linus Molina, who'll do even better with newly fitted equipment, steady Timothy Rauth, Matthias Wuerzinger, who produced a good effort after his arm injury, Gregor Asteroth, and Keanu Jahns, who transferred to Reichswald from Muenchener Golf Club.
Reichswald will now gun for the BAVARIAN TEAM Championship on July 23 and 24 in Muenchen against home-favorites GC Eichenried.
Great stuff, boys! And definitely great job, Christian Schloesser!
