After completing his 2nd year high school with A Beka Academy in Florida, Keanu is now eager to compete for the German 2nd Bundesliga team of GC Am Reichswald Nuernberg, led by its captain, Julian Hacker.
Said Keanu's father Johannes: "Keanu is hot on playing for the Reichswald team and feels comfortable in this renown club's strong competitive environment. Reichswald has a long history of success at the very top of golf in Germany and we're honored to compete for this club." Continues Jahns: "We also appreciate the very warm welcome extended by Reichswald's management with vice president Dr. Manuel Ober, long-standing president, Dr. Walter Ringel, as well as Julian. Keanu competed against Reichswald team members in the Bundesliga last season and won his match plays. He's now itching to do his part in promoting Reichswald to the 1st Bundesliga!"
Asked about plans for Keanu, Jahns senior says: "Keanu has done very well during the past few months with his swing adjustments under his coach, Mic Que, and his results of consistently producing 3 to 5 birdies per round, are promising."
But on suggestions of some golf elders, after his success of making the cut during the 2010 PHILIPPINE OPEN, for Keanu to turn PRO, Jahns senior waved off. Said Jahns: "Although Keanu's talent and his work ethics are great, we feel a steady career path as well as solid education must be priority. In any case, Keanu is only 15 and has plenty of time."In the meantime, Keanu himself had mixed feelings about his warm-up tournament, the first qualifier for the BAVARIAN Championship at GC Lauterhofen.
While submitting a score of 2-over par 74 on day 1, which included a painful double-bogey on the par 3 #14, and being 3-over par after the first 3 holes on day 2, Keanu again underlined his mental strength and came from behind to fire the tournament high of 8 birdies over two days. His 2nd day tally of 5 birdies yielded a 1-under par 71, but a missed birdie put from 7 feet on 18 sealed overall victory for Dominique Gruendler of GC Hassberge with a 71 and 73 vs. Keanu's 74 and 71. Gruendler showed great poise and steady GIR placements to deservedly take home 1st spot.
Tournament action now points towards Bamberg, where Keanu and the GC Am Reichswald AK18 team, led by captain Christian Schloesser, will compete for the GERMAN TEAM Championship qualification.
